To add a cost element to a service charge capping rule

Parent Previous Next

The procedure to add a cost element to a service charge capping rule is as follows:

  1. Navigate to Quick Menu > Service Charges > Configuration > Capping Rules. The Service Charge Capping Rule window is displayed.
  2. Select a service charge capping rule from the alphabetical list or type its name into the Search Rules field. By default the list is filtered to show Current capping rules. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All combinations 1.
  3. Click on New Cost Element. The Capping Rule Element window is displayed.
  4. Using the Cost element drop-down field, select the desired elemental component to be included in the service charge capping rule 2.
  5. Where a capped value may be deducted from charges linked to this cost element, ensure the Apportion to this element tick box is activated 3.
  6. Choose an Effective from date for this cost element i.e. the date on which it came into effect for the service charge capping rule 4.
  7. Choose an Effective to date if the cost element's inclusion within the service charge capping rule is to be reviewed on a specific date or to capture a change of circumstances; a blank field means the cost element will remain part of the capping rule in perpetuity.
  8. Click on Confirm. The assigned cost element record is displayed in the Cost Elements summary table.
  9. Repeat steps 3 through 8 to add further cost elements to the service charge capping rule.
  10. Click on Save.

Note

1 The Search Rules field will match against any element of the service charge capping rule description.

2 Only Apportioned and Fixed Charge cost elements that are assigned to the same companies as that of the capping rule will be available for selection.

3 This is the default and mandatory attribute for capping rules with an apportionment method set to All Elements.

4 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.
