As the variations in required campaign definitions may be only minimal, it is possible to clone existing campaigns, retaining all the attributes and configuration settings for the segment cohort, audience, communication strategies, etc. and apply the relevant changes to the new copy, thus saving time and effort.
The procedure to clone a campaign definition is as follows:
- Navigate to Quick Menu > Campaigns > Configuration > Campaign Configuration. The Campaign Configuration window is displayed.
- Select a campaign definition from the alphabetical list or type its name into the Search Campaign field. By default the list is filtered to show Current campaign definitions. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All
1.
- Click on Clone Campaign. The Campaign Configuration window is populated with all the attributes of the source campaign definition.
- Enter a Description for the new campaign definition into the field provided. By default, the source campaign description is displayed with an additional suffix of '1'
2.
- Using the Companies drop-down field, ensure that the selected companies are still valid for this cloned campaign definition and apply any required changes.
- Using the Category drop-down field, ensure that the selected parameter value reflects the desired focus of the cloned campaign definition and apply any required changes e.g. Events, Marketing, Personal Development, etc.
- Using the Audience Type drop-down field, ensure that the selected target audience subset is still valid for this cloned campaign definition i.e. Contact or Contact Group.
- Ensure that all attributes of the cloned campaign definition are still valid and apply any required changes using the tick boxes provided. An explanation of each available attribute is summarised in the table below.
- Ensure that the Maximum Audience integer value still reflects any required limit on the number of potential recipients for the campaign. The Up and Down arrows are available to increment or decrement the value, as appropriate.
- Ensure that the Audience Percentage (a decimal between 0 and 100) still reflects the required minimum number of respondents by percentage. The Up and Down arrows are available to increment or decrement the value, as appropriate
3.
- Verify that the Survey Template, where present, is still valid for the cloned campaign definition; an alternative question form can be selected using the spy-glass icon (
).
- Amend the Notes field, as required, to reflect the supporting contextual data that is relevant to the cloned campaign definition.
- Amend the Launch Date using the calendar icon (
), or type in the value directly (format DD/MM/YY or DD/MM/YYYY) i.e. the date on which the campaign goes live.
- Amend the Close Date using the calendar icon (
), or type in the value directly (format DD/MM/YY or DD/MM/YYYY) i.e. the completion date set for all campaign activities.
- Click on Save. The cloned campaign definition is displayed in the alphabetical list and the status set to Planning.
Note
1 The Search Campaign field will match against any element of the description.
2 System validation rules ensure that the description entered for each campaign definition is unique for the effective period.
3 The additional calculated fields Positive Response Number and Negative Response Number are used as a mechanism for tracking the success of the campaign.
