To clone an automatic inspection rule

The procedure to clone an automatic inspection rule is as follows:

1. Navigate to Quick Menu > Repairs > Configuration > Inspection Rules. The Inspection Rule Details window is displayed.
2. Select an inspection rule from the alphabetical list or type its name into the Search Inspection Rule field. By default the list is filtered to show Current inspection rules. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All combinations 1.
3. Click on Clone Inspection Rule. The Inspection Rule Details window is populated with all the attributes of the source inspection rule.
4. Enter a Description of the new inspection rule into the field provided 1.
5. Activate the All functional units tick box provided to assign all parameter values to this cloned inspection rule. Alternatively, to select a subset of matching functional units: (a) Click on the adjacent spy-glass icon () - The Functional unit select window is displayed, revealing a filtered list of functional units linked to the selected companies 2; (b) Activate the tick box against one or more functional units to be included within the inspection rule - click on the expansion level pointer icon () to reveal functional unit group membership records; (c) Click on Add to transfer the chosen subset to the right ('required') pane, or Add All to transfer all displayed records, irrespective of tick box status 3; (d) Click on Select - The chosen functional unit subset is summarised in the corresponding field.
6. Using the Contracts, Trades, Repair types and Asset types drop-down fields, ensure that the selected parameter values are still valid for this new inspection rule and apply any required changes.
7. Adjust the values entered in the Inspection threshold value and Minimum inspection threshold value fields, as required, to reflect the new rule 4.
8. Adjust the value entered in the Inspection percentage field, as required, to reflect the cloned rule i.e. the operating value for the target number of inspections to be conducted as a percentage of all works orders processed 5.
9. Using the Status and Priority drop-down fields, ensure that the selected parameter values are still valid for this cloned inspection rule and apply any required changes.
10. Amend the Effective from date for this cloned inspection rule, as required i.e. the date on which the rule came into effect 6.
11. Amend the Effective to date for this cloned inspection rule, as required i.e. to specify the valid duration; a blank field means the rule will never expire.
12. Click on Save. The new inspection rule is displayed in the alphabetical list.

Tip

1 To aid in identification purposes, it is good practice to devise and uphold a consistent naming convention for all inspection rules.

Note

1 The returned results can be refined further by entering a component of the Functional unit name into the dynamic search field provided.

2 In the same way, use the options Remove and Remove All in conjunction with the associated tick box fields to transfer functional unit entries out of the right ('required') pane.

3 The Search Inspection Rule field will match against any element of the inspection rule description.

4 These fields capture the order value range within which an automatic inspection is raised. Where only a Minimum inspection threshold value is entered, the order must exceed this value before an automatic inspection is triggered. Conversely, where only an Inspection threshold value is entered, the order value must be lower before an automatic inspection is triggered.

5 The current percentage of inspections delivered against work orders is derived using the calculated fields Number of works orders inspected and Total number of works orders. The Inspection percentage set will be compared against this result to determine whether the threshold has been reached.

6 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.
