Application type maintenance overview

Parent Previous Next

An application type is used to categorise applications that are submitted for the allocation of resources, whether they be assets, non-organisational assets or services. Application types can be aligned to a variety of business streams or asset groups, to meet the requirements of the organisation. For example, an application type of ‘sheltered housing’ might be created in order to manage the subset of applicants requesting that level of accommodation. Each application type in operation will be associated with a bespoke application form, and in many cases an initial enquiry form will also be linked. So, for example, where prospective tenants wish to submit an application to be placed on the housing register, they may first be required to complete an eligibility enquiry form. Only one enquiry form and one application form may be linked to a single application type. Application types are not just limited to housing requests; they can also be used for training courses and other service-based resources. Indeed, separate application types must be created for each resource type managed by the housing organisation. Furthermore, they can be linked to user-defined advice communications, ensuring that prescribed notifications are dispatched to respondents at appropriate stages during the form completion process.

Once created, application types can be associated with multiple allocation lists, as required, to ensure that respondents completing the necessary form will be automatically filtered to the correct list. Functional units can also be assigned in order to channel the applications to the correct business unit, ready for processing.
