The procedure to create a new service charge calculation scenario is as follows:
- Navigate to Quick Menu > Service Charges > Management > Calculations. The Service Charge Calculation window is displayed.
- Click on New Calculation. All fields are activated ready for data entry

- Enter a Description for the new service charge calculation scenario into the field provided 2.
- Using the Calculation type drop-down field, select the desired classification for the service charge calculation scenario i.e. Actual, Adjustment or Estimate.
- Using the Company drop-down field, select the company for which this calculation scenario is relevant.
- Using the Calendar drop-down field, select the calendar that reflects the required service charging frequency for the new calculation scenario 3.
- Using the Calculation period drop-down field, select the service charge calendar period within which the calculations will be derived.
- Using the Calculation method drop-down field, select the mechanism by which calculation input values will be obtained i.e. Import, Manual or Model 4.
- For Actual or Adjustment calculation types, select the desired Estimate calculation from the corresponding drop-down field, to be used as the baseline projection for the final results.
- For Actual or Estimate calculation types, select the desired Balancing charge source from the corresponding drop-down field, to take account of surplus or deficit balances from a previous period.
- Optionally, to Include balancing charge source by default, activate the corresponding tick box provided 5.
- Clive on Save. The new calculation scenario appears in the alphabetical list, underneath the nested Calculation type subheading for the relevant calendar period.
Note
1 Upon first access, all fields are automatically activated ready for data entry; hence the New Calculation button is inactive.
2 System validation rules ensure that the description entered for each service charge calculation scenario is unique for the effective period.
3 Only calendars matching the selected company will be available for selection.
4 The Model calculation method is only applicable to Estimate calculation types; for this calculation scenario only, a Base calculation must also be selected from the corresponding drop-down field i.e. the foundation on which the model estimate is built.
5 This option is available only in the instance where a Balancing charge source calculation scenario has been selected from the corresponding drop-down field.
