To clone an ASB category

Parent Previous Next

As the variations in required ASB category types may be only minimal, it is possible to clone existing types, retaining all the attributes and configuration settings for priorities, available and automatic tasks, etc. and apply the required changes to the new copy, thus saving time and effort.

The procedure to clone an ASB category is as follows:

  1. Navigate to Quick Menu > ASB > Configuration > Category Type. The ASB Category Type Configuration window is displayed.
  2. Expand an ASB type heading from the alphabetical list and select an ASB category type, or enter its name into the Search category type field. By default the list is filtered to show Current category types. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All 1.
  3. Click on Clone Category Type. The ASB Category Type Configuration window is populated with all the attributes of the source category.
  4. Using the ASB type and NSIR category drop-down fields, ensure the selected parameter values are still valid for this cloned ASB category and apply any required changes.
  5. Using the Housemark category type drop-down field, ensure the external ASB benchmarking parameter value is still valid and apply any required change 2.
  6. Enter a Description for the new ASB category into the field provided.
  7. Ensure that all attributes of the cloned ASB category are still valid and apply any required changes using the tick boxes provided. An explanation of each available attribute is summarised in the table below.
  8. Using the Companies drop-down field, ensure that the selected companies are still valid for this cloned ASB category 1.
  9. Amend the Effective from date for this ASB category, as required i.e. the date on which it came into effect 3.
  10. Amend the Effective to date if the ASB category status is to be reviewed on a specific date or to capture a change of circumstances; a blank field means the category will be continually valid.
  11. Click on Save. The cloned ASB category appears in the alphabetical list, underneath the associated type 4.

Tip

1 Where only a small number of parameter values are not required, activate the All tick box first and then de-select individual items from the full list, as required; the All tick box will be automatically removed once an item is de-selected.

Note

1 The Search category type field will match against any element of the ASB category description.

2 The system preference Use ASB Housemark fields determines the availability of this external benchmarking option.

3 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.

4 To amend the details of an existing ASB category type, expand an ASB type from the alphabetical list and select an associated category (or enter its name into the Search category type field) and repeat steps 4 through 11. By default the list is filtered to show Current ASB category types. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All. Only a limited number of fields can be updated once a record has been created.
