Parent Previous Next

The procedure to link a perpetrator to an ASB case is as follows:

  1. Prerequisite procedural steps are covered separately in the topic To start a new ASB case via a contact record. Refer to these before proceeding to step 2.
  2. With the Create ASB Case - Select Perpetrators window displayed, establish a known contact as the perpetrator: (a) Enter the first few characters of the contact name or their known address into the Search for perpetrator field - All possible matches are returned in the Search Results summary table; (b) Highlight the row containing the exact record match; (c) Click on Add - The details of the contact record are displayed in the Perpetrators summary table 1.
  3. Alternatively, click on New Contact to create a completely new contact record for the perpetrator, not previously held. This requisite step is covered separately in the topic To create a new contact via an ASB case; once created, the new contact will be displayed in the Search Results summary table ready for selection.
  4. Otherwise, where the perpetrator is Unknown, activate the tick box provided and enter relevant identification data into the Unknown perpetrator details field e.g. Tall Male, Neighbour, etc; click on Add - A record with name 'Unknown' is displayed in the Perpetrators summary table.
  5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 to add further perpetrators to the ASB case 2.
  6. Click on Next. The Create ASB Case - Case Details window is displayed, ready to record the specific details of the ASB case. This requisite step is covered separately in the topic To record the details of an ASB case.

Note

1 The Search for perpetrator field will operate as a dynamic search function and match against any element of the contact name or associated address based on the successive characters entered.

2 There is no limit to the number of perpetrators - known or anonymous - that can be linked to a single ASB case.
